Clement.

The Ibrox manager acknowledged that it is challenging to be successful in the winter transfer market

without a significant transfer budget, but he is expecting to turn it into a productive window at Ibrox.

Although Fabio Silva is already on loan, no additional players have been added despite the likes of

several others, especially in forward and left-back positions.

“Everyone is working hard for that, to find the right players who can add something extra to the squad,”

Clement stated, as reported by The Herald on January 14.

“Everyone in the club is working really hard to bring players here, but January is typically a challenging

month in that regard. As everyone is expecting and working hard, so am I. I’m not sure how much it

would cost because I know from experience that you can never get everything you desire.

“Maybe clubs with unlimited resources could pull that off, but not teams like the Rangers. Although it is

much simpler in the summer, we will endeavor to make it as good as we can during this time.

Expectation

Rangers’ fortunes have improved considerably under Clement in recent months, but this is still a team

that struggled early in the season after Michael Beale was fired.

The League Cup victory, Europa League group stage qualification, and the reopening of the title fight

have demonstrated that the inclusion of the proper players for the Belgian may make this a very

successful campaign.

If the Turk leaves then a long-term answer at left-back will be no closer than it was 18 months ago, but a

striker looks a must, while an injury crisis in midfield earlier in his reign may make Clement look at

midfield.

The fact is that the summer overhaul left a lot the work incomplete so the more that the new boss can get

done this month the quicker he can compete, but it is easier said than done this month.

There isn’t much room for error, as demonstrated by Celtic’s 2-1 victory in the most recent contentious

derby on December 30. However, there does seem to be a chance to salvage a lot more from what had

seemed to be a write-off season.

Both the manager and the supporters will be praying for success before the deadline if Rangers are

unable to provide Clement what he wants in the winter window.
