NFL Coach Interested in Saints Running Backs …

Giants Interested in Saints Running Backs Coach Joel Thomas

The NFL Network claims that New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll is speaking with Joel Thomas, the coach of the Saints running backs, about the Giants’ opening on Daboll’s staff.

In 2000, Thomas started working as a coach at Purdue as a graduate assistant. He continued to work as a collegiate coach, most notably as Idaho’s

co-offensive coordinator and running backs coach in 2004–2005 and as Washington’s assistant head coach for offence and running backs coach in 2012.

He got his first NFL coaching job with the Saints in 2015 as their running back coach, a position he’s held now under former head coach Sean

Payton and current head coach Dennis Allen.

Prior to that, he interned at training camps for the Steelers in 2008 and the Saints in 2012. The Saints running game led the NFL in total rushing

touchdowns with 82 from 2015 to 2018, under the direction of the Washington native from Port Angeles.

After just one season, Jeff Nixon, the former running backs coach for the Giants, left the organization to become Syracuse’s offensive coordinator.

Nixon’s exit was first rumoured to have occurred last month, and the Orangemen made the announcement on January 5.
