After Aston Villa’s decision, Gary Lineker discusses what everyone is thinking about VAR.

The most recent Aston Villa news is that following a thorough VAR assessment, a goal scored in the first half was declared offside for Unai Emery’s team.

In his lighthearted remarks, Gary Lineker said that he could have gone for a dog walk in the time it took VAR to rule out Aston Villa’s goal against Everton in the Premier League.

In the first half of the match at Goodison Park, Villa believed they had taken the lead thanks to a goal by Alex Moreno that went outside the box. However, Everton players’ protests of an offside during the build-up were mixed in with the celebrations.

But it wasn’t only in the stands where frustration was shared. Lineker took to social media to give his thoughts.

“Saw there was a VAR check so thought it would be an ideal time to walk the dog,” he wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “They were still looking at it after we got back…. slight exaggeration but, I mean, really? So bored with it.”

Sky Sports pundit Alan Smith acknowledged that Everton avoided a penalty kick during the VAR review, saying it was a close call.

“It seems like Everton simply hesitated because they thought the goal would be scored,” he remarked. £Everyone turned their attention to the near-side assistant.
