Celtic signing set for Monday medical as Rangers ‘turn down’ offer for first-team player
Celtic are expected to complete their first signing of the January transfer window this week with the arrival of winger Nicolas Kuhn from Rapid
Vienna.
The Parkhead team and the Austrian club have come to an agreement on a £3 million contract with add-ons for the German 24-year-old, whose
development they have followed for several months. Kuhn is scheduled to get a medical on Monday in London before traveling to Glasgow to sign a
four-year deal that will expire in the summer of 2028 and get to know his new teammates. Arriving match fit, he has made 22 appearances for
Rapid this season, scoring three goals and dishing out seven assists. On Saturday, he might make his Scottish Cup debut against Buckie Thistle.y.
Kuhn came through the RB Leipzig youth ranks before earning a 2 million euros move to Ajax at the age of 18. He played for the Amsterdam side’s
second team before being signed by Bayern Munich, initially on loan, in 2020. The left-footed attacker, who represented Germany at every youth
level up to Under-20s, was a regular in Bayern’s second team until 2022 when he made the move to Austria.

e Under-17 World Cup held in India in 2017 led to him being labelled the “next Messi” by the German press.
At least two more recruits are anticipated at Celtic Park this month, as manager Brendan Rodgers has emphasized the importance of bolstering his roster with quality players. Kuhn is unlikely to be the only newcomer.

The Ibrox club has rejected the terms offered by the Turkish team, who sought to recruit their national on a loan with a potential buyout of around £3.4 million. The 22-year-old has also been linked to Hellas Verona. He signed a £5 million deal to join Rangers from Besiktas in 2022.
