Breaking: Draymond expected to be back with the Warriors for Monday’s game against Grizzlies
Draymond Green’s absence from the Warriors’ lineup seems to be over.
After taking a month-long break from the game to serve an NBA ban for striking Jusuf Nurkic in the face and choking out Rudy Gobert, Draymond Green has been back with the Warriors for the past week.
The Warriors are in an organizational crisis and have dropped below .500 since he left.
According to Shams Charania, Green will be back in the starting lineup when Golden State visits the Memphis Grizzlies on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, which is hopefully excellent news.
The Grizzlies are currently dealing with a number of injuries, most notably a season-ending shoulder injury sustained by Ja Morant.
However, considering the tense recent history between the Warriors and Grizzlies, Green should find the Grizzlies to be an especially intriguing opponent on his return.
Memphis has a history of trying to get under the Warriors’ skin, so it will be interesting to see if Green has really improved over the last few weeks in controlling his emotions on the court.
With practically everything on the table in terms of potential transactions, Golden State will be watching to see how the team responds with Green back in the fold as they approach the trade deadline.
They could use his defensive effect on the court.
