Saints Reacts Results: Grading the 2023 season.

The New Orleans Saints defeated the Atlanta Falcons to close up 2023 with a 9-8 record, just missing out on the postseason. When we asked readers to assess the Saints season earlier this week, 47% of them indicated they would give them a “D,” while 38% said they would give it a “C.”

This is not surprising, considering how outspoken players and fans have been in their dissatisfaction with the way the season has concluded. After Derek Carr signed with the team and assembled a talented squad, there was a lot of expectation and build-up around the team back in September, hoping to snap a two-year playoff drought this season. Instead, the Saints narrowly missed making the playoffs, remembering their Week 3 match against Green Bay—in which they coughed up a 17-point lead in the fourth quarter—as the one that got away.

Voters were also questioned about how confident they felt about the future now that the season was over. Just 13% of voters think the squad is going in the right way. Even though the New Orleans season is over, there is still a great deal of work to be done.

Dennis Allen, the head coach, stated on Monday that every situation will be assessed. The Saints players completed their exit interviews earlier this week and cleaned out their lockers. Although the staff and coaches have this week off, they have a meeting scheduled with General Manager Mickey Loomis for next week. Following the conclusion of that discussion, we should anticipate information and announcements regarding any potential staff changes.
