Alexander is currently battling with an ankle issue, thus he will not be playing. Consequently, Green Bay made the decision to make a roster move in case Alexander is ruled out.

That being said, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Packers have formally promoted David Long Jr. from the practice squad to the active roster.

Alexander is not currently ruled out, but this is a nice insurance move from Green Bay.

The Packers have elevated CB David because Jaire Alexander injured his ankle during practice and was unable to work out on the last two days of the practice week.
