Following the season-ending injuries to Andrew Van Ginkel, Cameron Goode, and Jerome Baker against the Buffalo Bills, the Miami Dolphins signed three pass rushers, including Justin Houston.

A third-round choice in the 2011 NFL Draft, Houston, 34, played seven games with the Carolina Panthers earlier this season.

“Thank God for my experience so it’s easier to learn the playbook,” Houston said of establishing his rhythm in Miami. “It’s not that horrible; I’ve used this system previously.

I have experience playing in a system like this from my time in Carolina, so that puts me in a fantastic position.

It’s not very personal. I would have a lot on my plate if I were a young man, though. But for now, I’m fine.

With 56 total sacks during the regular season, the Dolphins placed third in the NFL.

With eleven quarterback takedowns, Bradley Chubb led the team, one more than Zack Sieler.

Due to a spate of injuries, Christian Wilkins, a fellow defensive tackle who leads third in sack total, will be required to play on the edge against the Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday.

“I’m a pass rusher,” Houston said. “That’s my job is to put pressure on the quarterback. So I came here to put pressure on the quarterback.”

Houston played eight seasons in Kansas City after being selected by the Chiefs. With 22 sacks and four forced fumbles, he was a first-team All-Pro in 2014 and a four-time Pro Bowler.

“Have you seen that locker room? It’s a closet,” He said jokingly.

“That’s not a locker room. They’re going to put us in a closet. (laughter) But it’s cool man. New environment. I’m just happy I’m still playing ball so it’s a blessing to be here.

“I think we can do a great rotation to keep everybody fresh. I think it would be good for us and this team.”
