Raphinha transfer twist as former Leeds United star given Barcelona stance amid £55m claim
Amidst interest throughout this January transfer window, Raphinha, a former attacker for Leeds United,
is still uncertain about his future. For over £50 million, the winger moved from Elland Road to
Barcelona in the summer of 2022, but he hasn’t quite been able to realize his full potential at Camp Nou.
Although the 27-year-old scores from out wide for the Catalan club once per five league games on
average, he has received a lot of criticism from Barca supporters. The summer saw a lot of speculation
that the winger might leave Camp Nou, but Barca chose to hang onto him in spite of their ongoing
financial difficulties.
According to recent rumors, Deco, the sporting director, needs to force through a sizable sale soon in
order to maintain the club’s finances. Given Saudi Arabia’s interest, Raphinha seems to be the most
likely candidate.
Reports in suggest Al Hilal are interested this month, and that they could offer Barca a profit with
talk of a £55million offer. But according to Catalan press, Deco, who previously represented Raphinha as
his agent, believes the winger can still reach his potential with Barcelona, and he is said to be reluctant to
sell the Brazilian.
In the meantime, Raphinha was forced off during Barcelona’s Spanish Super Cup win over Osasuna in
Saudi Arabia, forcing him out of the El Clásico final. How
long the 27-year-old will be out for, but it could be an obstacle to a transfer this month.
