Everton have triple injury worry ahead of Aston Villa clash as fitness hint emerges.
Concerns have been raised by Everton regarding the health of
Abdoulaye Doucoure, and Dwight McNeil before of their Premier League encounter against Villa.
In an attempt to maintain pressure on Liverpool
at the top of the standings, Villa will visit Goodison Park on Sunday at 2 p.m. After losing their past three league games, Everton is trying to get out of the relegation zone. The Toffees are concerned about the injuries of midfielder Doucoure, winger McNeil, and former Villa player Young ahead of the encounter. According to the Liverpool Echo, none of the three are shown in the practice photos that the team shared this week.
McNeil is perhaps the biggest concern after being stretchered off during last week’s FA Cup draw against Crystal Palace. It has since been revealed that he suffered an ankle injury and is not expected to be available to face Villa.
McNeil has been a key player for the club this season, scoring twice and assisting a further four times in his 17 Premier League appearances. Five of those goal contributions have come since the start of December.
Young, who left Villa for Everton this summer on a free transfer, has been sidelined for the past four Premier League games with an injury, and it’s unclear when he might make a comeback. Due to a thigh injury, Doucoure has missed the team’s last three league games. Despite not being visible in the photos, it is said that he participated in training as the squad increased their preparations.
When he addresses the media on Friday afternoon, Everton manager Sean Dyche will provide an additional update on the health of his team. Idrissa Gueye, however, will not be with him since she has joined Senegal for the Africa Cup of Nations, which begins this weekend.
