Tashreeq Matthews, a playmaker for IK Sirius, is apparently attracting interest from Rangers this month.

In an attempt to find the elite player who will help the Light Blues catch up to Celtic at the end of the Scottish Premiership winter break, Philippe Clement and Nils Koppen, director of football recruitment, are searching throughout Europe. The 23-year-old is rumored to have caught their attention. Rangers are reportedly pursuing a deal with the South African forward, who finished the previous season with 30 games in the Allsvenskan, 10 goals, and ten assists. This information comes from Soccer Laduma.

It is stated that South African giants Kaizer Chiefs are considering an approach while AZ Alkmaar are also said to hold an interest in taking him to the Eredivise. Matthews contract with Swedish minnows Sirius runs until 2026. He joined the club from Varbergs Bois in the summer of 2022 having spent time in Borussia Dortmund’s and Utrecht’s academies.

Josh Doig has been linked to a move to Ibrox as Borna Barisic’s contract expires, and Ridvan Yilmaz is rumored to be leaving. And even if Marseille has surfaced as a possible landing spot for the Hellas Verona player, the Ibrox team still has a vacancy.

According to L’Equipe, the guy is the kind of flexible player Rino Gattuso is searching for this month—someone who can cover the whole left side of defense. They haven’t yet, though, formally accepted the Scotland U21 international.
