Player’s relationship with club broken after Aston Villa bid rejected – New injury may ruin January transfer chance.

After Aston Villa rejected his summer bid, Marcos Acuña’s relationship with Sevilla was shattered. However, after suffering another injury, a January move might no longer be possible.

Marca, who now covers the player and his most recent setback in what is quickly turning into a horrible year for him, claims that.

The newspaper explains that injury problems, particularly muscle based, have been a consistent issue for Acuña during his time at Sevilla and that is the case again as the club announced this week he’s set for an undefined spell on the sidelines.

With this being his third injury in five months and issues behind the scenes, it appears that this season is quickly becoming one to forget. They were delighted to take him and bring him back to Monchi; however, Sevilla “closed the door” on him because their previous director of football was the one making the move.

That ‘broke the relationship’ between Acuña and the club as the player had been keen on the move to Villa Park, where there was a Premier League salary and the chance to play alongside Emiliano Martínez, who had been convincing him on the move, on the table.

Due to his forced stay in Spain, he has been sidelined by ailments and Adrià Pedrosa has taken his spot in the starting lineup.

It had been hoped that he might be able to arrange a move this month instead, with Aston Villa reportedly still being considered. However, it seems that his most recent injury has derailed that, and he will now have to spend a “exhausting” few months until he can hopefully find a new club in the summer.
