On Thursday, January 11, the outlet said on their Patreon page that a source close to the Ibrox board had verified that the Light Blues were not considering the 23-year-old as a possible transfer target during the window for new players.

Fabio Silva has already joined on loan from Wolves, so Philippe Clement is anticipated to bolster his forward ranks during the January transfer window. However, Matthews will not be joining Rangers this month.

On January 8, reports surfaced from the South African publication SNL24, indicating that the Light Blues had expressed interest in the 23-year-old winger.

For Rangers supporters, the connection with Matthews was thrilling since it seemed the Light Blues were exploring a relatively unexplored market in an effort to locate a true game-changer for the second part of the Scottish Premiership season.
