Rangers set for transfer ‘battle’ with EFL Championship club for teenage sensation.

According to multiple sources, Rangers and AFC Bournemouth are expected to engage in a three-way trade war for Max Willoughby, a young player from Motherwell. The defensive prodigy, whose grandfather Alex Willoughby was a former Rangers player in the late 1960s, is regarded as one of Scotland’s most promising young players.

Despite interest from all three clubs, Scottish Premiership side Motherwell are understood to be keen to hang onto Willoughby and hope to convince the player to pen a new deal with the club with the offer of a clear path to first-team football after the player progressed successfully through their youth team ranks.

Motherwell will also believe that they can use the development of players like Lennon Miller and Luca Ross, who have played competitively for the Steelmen at the age of just 17, to show what Willoughby may accomplish if he sticks with the team going forward.

The Gers will face stiff competition from English side AFC Bournemouth though after the Premier League club reportedly sent scouts to watch the defender several weeks ago. EFL Championship outfit Norwich City will also be hopeful of securing a deal with manager David Wagner known to hand youth team prospects first team opportunities with the likes of Jonathan Rowe and Adam Idah becoming first team regular in Norfolk this year.

At Ibrox, summer acquisition Sam Lammers is anticipated to leave the Glasgow team in the next 24 hours once his loan transfer to FC Utrecht, an Eredivisie team, is finalized. The Dutch attacker, who has only managed two goals in 31 appearances, has had a terrible experience in Scotland and has been handed a way out by the Dutch team that appeared to have almost signed him.
