Former NFL executive rips Dennis Allen amid Saints turmoil

Dennis Allen

The Dennis Allen, Jameis Winston, and Jamaal Williams story will not be ending anytime soon for the New Orleans Saints. When Allen was the

Raiders’ head coach, Amy Trask was their CEO. She discussed the incident on “What The Football” and wasn’t shy about her feelings about Allen as a coach.

Suzy starts by asking how this happens and Amy immediately slams Allen.

“What kind of world? when Dennis Allen serves as your head coach. I can speak from experience, Suzy. As you are aware, I spent a year in Oakland

working alongside Dennis Allen, and what I saw during that time made me not in the slightest astonished when that play occurred. To be honest,

I would have been shocked if it had occurred to any other coach. I’m not in the slightest surprised that Dennis was the coach when it happened.

Dennis Allen continues to get ripped in the media

Allen was the head coach of the Raiders from 2012 to 2014 and Trask was the team’s CEO from 1997 to 2013. Her speaking so candidly about

Allen and how she wasn’t surprised at all to see something like this happen under Allen’s watch should be telling for the Saints front office.

Still, she doesn’t end there in her criticism of Allen. She says that when she was questioned about Allen’s abilities as a coach and leader, she

answered that everyone can learn and develop on the job through his “leadership”—she takes sure to put the word in quotes.

From that play, she discovered that Allen hasn’t altered his behaviour.

It’s evident that Allen hasn’t changed from his prior coaching position in Oakland, as he continues to make the same errors in New Orleans.

But it seems like the Saints will continue with him as head coach, and maybe that’s because the position isn’t particularly appealing at the moment.

They will need to let go of important players in order to create cap space because they have the worst cap situation in the league.

It’s not a very appealing landing place, and they currently have a bad coach reputation.

It doesn’t look good when a former executive is criticizing you and claiming that your “leadership” style hasn’t evolved. As long as

Dennis Allen is head coach in New Orleans, things won’t get much better from here either.
