Rangers news bulletin as Gijs Smal transfer faces fresh Twente hurdle while Cyriel Dessers set for surprise call.

Even though the Premiership season is over, Philippe Clement still has a busy January ahead of him.

FC Twente has extended a better contract offer to Gijs Smal in light of his connections to the Rangers.

The Dutch left-back’s contract expires in the summer, and the Eredivisie team seems to have accepted that the 26-year-old will either leave the

team during this transfer window for a reduced price or as a free agent in the summer. According to the Dutch media, Radvan Yılmaz, 26, is

rumoured to be on his way to Italy to sign with Verona as part of Philippe Clement’s Ibrox makeover. Rangers are reportedly interested in signing him.

At the team’s winter training camp in Costa Blanca, Spain, Twente has now moved to offer Smal a new contract; the player will now discuss it with

his agency. Additionally, Arnold Bruggink, the technical director of Twente, has stated that he does not wish to sell anyone this month.

He stated:

FC Twente want to play European football next season and that means doing everything we can to keep this squad together this month.”

In other news, Nigeria lost key player Victor Boniface of Bayer Leverkusen due to injury, and Cyriel Dessers was placed on standby for the African

Cup of Nations. Despite having trouble winning over supporters this season, the 29-year-old has nevertheless managed to score nine goals.

Despite being included in the initial preliminary roster, Super Eagles manager Jose Peseiro chose not to include him in the African Cup of

Nations. But Boniface, the striker for Leverkusen, has pulled out of the team due to a groin tear that would require six weeks to heal.

Peseiro made the decision to call up Terem Moffi, a striker for Nice, to take his position; however, since his inclusion was made after the formal

deadline, Nice is free to refuse to release their player. Rangers would also have the option to refuse Dessers‘ release, but if Nice forbids Moffi from

attending, sources from Africa suggest the striker will be the next to travel to the competition.
