Rangers supporters may find happiness in the hands of Ross Wilson, a former Ibrox director, as they reload their screens in anticipation of transfer news.

Although the Rangers’ summer signing class will undoubtedly continue to be debated behind closed doors, there are currently a number of names associated with the team.

There have been eleven players linked thus far, however two of them have Premier League contracts with Nottingham Forest. In April of last year, Ross Wilson moved from Rangers to the City Ground, and he is currently an important player in the Premier League team’s moves.

Rangers linked to Nottingham Forest pair.

That means that when it comes Forest duo Scott McKenna and Emmanuel Dennis, the former Rangers Sporting Director could hold the transfer keys.

Scott McKenna was linked with a move to Ibrox alongside Old Firm rivals Celtic last week. The Scotland international centre-back, 27, is out of contract at the end of the season and out of sorts at the City Ground.

A loan with a contract option seems like a constructive move – even if the defender is a Celtic supporter – and we’ll see how this progresses. Rangers have also been linked with Emmanuel Dennis, who is currently on loan at Turkish side Çaykur Rizespor.

After a difficult first half of the season in Turkey, it looks like the forward could be about to return to Nottingham Forest in the window. Whilst reports in Belgium have suggested a deal is some way down the line, others have suggested it’s still some way from completion. Having worked with Philippe Clement at Club Brugge, it’s a link to watch with Dennis the second Nottingham Forest player linked to Rangers.

Ross Wilson could have final transfer say.

Ross Wilson and Rangers will always be friends, even though the Nottingham Forest director left under difficult circumstances. Wilson abruptly returned to the Premier League following demonstrations by supporters against the former Falkirk and Southampton recruiter’s transfer history.

Since then, Rangers have altered the Ibrox recruiting setup, with Nils Koppen serving as the club’s Director of recruiting on the recently formed Ibrox side recruitment board. The former PSV scout may now have to collaborate with the person he succeeded in Glasgow to finalize two transfers for Rangers.

Whilst Ross Wilson is now obviously an employee of Nottingham Forest, we suspect his links to Rangers will surely make any negotiation a little bit smoother. The 32-times capped England international was reportedly a 2021 winter window target, however, no move to Ibrox ever materialized, instead a short-term transfer to West Ham United saw him rediscover his best form.

Now, at 31-years old and having barely kicked a ball since that season, Jesse Lingard wouldn’t remotely be considered for Rangers which makes the latest rumors even more bizarre.

He played just over a thousand minutes for Nottingham Forest in the previous season.Scarcely 500 for Man Utd last season. He was out for the whole preseason and hasn’t kicked a ball at all this season. Remarkably, his wage demands prevented him from moving to Saudi Arabia.

Therefore, how could he possibly believe that Barcelona would be ready to take a chance on him, as reported by the Spanish site Sport? Although Financial Fair Play rules impose restrictions on the La Liga powerhouses, are they really so desperate to recruit a player who would no longer be considered for the Rangers squad? Jesse Lingard was never exactly the kind of player that would be welcomed at Ibrox; he was always more of a moment’s player.

For an attacking midfielder/forward to only have 58 senior goals (and fewer assists) in their whole career when most of it was spent in the first team at Man Utd, doesn’t suggest they will buck that trend now. Especially after a period of such inactivity and poor form.

Although Lingard never had a particular skill or speed that set him apart from the competition, a string of victories on significant occasions allowed him to play at a higher level for longer than perhaps others.

That period of time has long since passed, so it would be a great stretch to hope that Barcelona will take a chance given their financial situation. Even though they may not have as much money as they formerly did, they still have standards.
