Cowboys: Micah Parsons’ powerful message on building Dallas legacy will fire up fans

Micah Parsons wants the Lombardi Trophy more than anything else for himself and his Cowboys teammates.

Micah Parson

Star linebacker Micah Parsons of the Dallas Cowboys knows that winning games in September isn’t the ticket to induct a player into the team’s hall of fame.

It’s cute in the regular season. However, Parsons told reporters, “This is legacy,” as reported by Jon Machota of The Athletic.

Lormbardy Trophy

Parsons and his colleagues are well aware of the success those teams had in the 1990s and the star power the Cowboys used. The current Cowboys team is aware that they cannot achieve inner-circle status without significant postseason success, such as winning a Super Bowl trophy.

“(The way Jimmy Johnson, Michael Irvin, Emmitt Smith, Troy Aikman, Charles Haley performed in the 1990s), that’s where me, CeeDee (Lamb), Dak (Prescott) all want to be, (have) that legacy and earn our way into that type of Cowboys Hall of Fame.”

Cowboys crave playoff success

Parsons was saying following his Cowboys’ 38-10 victory in Week 18 over the Washington Commanders. With the victory, America’s Team secured the NFC East title and guaranteed a spot as the NFC’s second seed. Next Sunday, the Cowboys will host the Green Bay Packers.

In addition to the spotlight that comes with playing for the Cowboys, Parsons and Co. will be feeling the pressure this postseason.

The team has rattled off its third straight 12-5 season under coach Mike McCarthy. But the previous two have ended in disappointment.

The San Francisco 49ers defeated the 2021 Cowboys in the wildcard round. The Cowboys defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the first round of the playoffs the following season. But the 49ers again put an end to their season in the divisional round.

Success during the regular season has been consistent lately. But Parsons and his teammates will only be tier-two in Dallas until another Super Bowl trophy finds its way to Jerry World.
