The 2023–24 NFL season for the New Orleans Saints was disappointing to end. The Saints defeated the Atlanta Falcons handily Sunday, yet they were still narrowly eliminated from the postseason. This sparked rumors about Dennis Allen’s future as head coach of the Saints. He has now made a statement on this topic.
Dennis Allen Thinks He Stays
Ian Rapoport shared an answer that Allen gave to one interview question. The question was if Allen expected to be back with the Saints in 2024. Here is what Allen had to say:
“That is my expectation, yes.” -Dennis Allen
In other words, Allen expects to be back with New Orleans in 2024. However, one event yesterday caused some speculation.
New Orleans Saints Week 18 Controversy
Yesterday, the New Orleans Saints were winning easily over the Atlanta Falcons. With a 41-17 lead, the Saints were predicted to end the game in winning formation. The Saints players, however, had different plans.
Dennis Allen was disregarded by Jameis Winston and company while they staged the victory formation. They ran up the score and scored a meaningless touchdown as a result. After the game, former Falcons head coach Arthur Smith shouted out Allen because he did not like that.
Allen did not appear to think the stunt was funny. After the match, he stated as much. If Allen returns in 2024, will he be able to manage his players? We’ll have to hold off and see.
