Saints HC Dennis Allen’s eye-opening comments on job status for 2024 season
The New Orleans Saints had a mediocre 9-8 record at the end of the 2023 season, but they showed signs of life toward the end of the season.
When asked if he expects to return for the 2024 campaign, head coach Dennis Allen gave an interesting response, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL
Network. The Saints finished the season with a high-five, winning four of their final five games. In Week 18, they cruised to a 48-17 victory over the
Atlanta Falcons, a game that featured some controversy.
The Saints’ late-season resurgence kept them in the playoff conversation. They needed a Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ defeat in Week 18, though, and the
Bucs ended up earning a 9-0 win over the Carolina Panthers.
Dennis Allen’s future with Saints
Although the Saints were not able to overcome their early-season struggles, the future is bright for this team. Their play in the second half of the
year suggests that 2024 could be a big campaign in New Orleans. The Saints might as well give Dennis Allen another opportunity and see what
happens.
However, nothing is guaranteed just yet. Even if Allen’s return in 2024 seems inevitable, New Orleans might still be weighing their alternatives.
If Allen returns to the Saints, it will be to demonstrate that New Orleans is capable of winning early in the season. Allen is going to be under
pressure after a difficult start to the season.
As further information becomes available, we’ll keep an eye on Allen’s status with the Saints and share it with you.
