Unlucky 13? Micah Parsons Promises Sack by ‘Any Means Necessary!’
“Pass-rushing linebacker” Micah Parsons of the Dallas Cowboys is prepared to close off the regular season against the Washington Commanders with a bang… and another sack. With a victory in the nation’s capital on Sunday, the Cowboys can secure both the NFC East and the No. 2 seed in the NFC.
But Micah has more at stake at FedEx Field: as luck would have it, Micah has 13 sacks going into Week 18 after Parsons was “stuck” on 13 in his first two seasons (13.5 in 2022). He’s aiming not to finish with the same number of sacks for the third straight season.
“At this point, it’s any means necessary, it’s any means necessary,” Parsons said with a smile. “I might jump offside twice this week, something has to change. It’s coming. It’s coming for sure.” We’re not sure the logic of “jumping offsides”; Micah did that last week vs.
Detroit and almost cost Dallas a win. But “it’s coming”? We believe that. Parsons almost couldn’t have a better opponent than the Commanders to get over the No. 13. Washington has given up the fifth-most sacks in the league (63) and in the Week 12 win at AT&T Stadium, Commanders quarterback Sam Howell was sacked four times (Micah grabbed 1.5 sacks).
But while Micah’s sack total is on his mind, so too is what’s at stake for the Cowboys.
Washington, with nothing to play for but pride and with the chance to spoil Dallas’ end to the season, has Parsons is fully aware of the dangers that come with this situation.
“It’s always dangerous to go against someone who has nothing to lose; they can pull out all types of tricks and gambles because they want to make a statement,” said Parsons, the third-year star who this week was named to his third Pro Bowl. “Their backs against the wall, they want to see what they have for next year and prepare for that. We got to go and make a statement and say we are the better team, we are the more dominant, aggressive team and we just got to prove that Sunday.”
The Cowboys have it all mapped out: all they need to do is win in order to advance to the division and the No. 2 seed. After spending most of the season playing catch up to the Philadelphia Eagles, Philly’s recent surrender has given Dallas the upper hand with a chance that many only a few weeks ago would have seemed unthinkable.
It is, however, one that, like Parsons’ desire to surpass his 13-sack total, must be attained by “any means necessary.”
