Dallas Reveals La’el Collins’ New Jersey Number; Fans ‘Upset’?!

When Dallas Unveils La’el Collins’ New Jersey Phone Number, Are Cowboys Fans “Upset”?

FRISCO – Today at practice inside The Star, the Dallas Cowboys have a new/old employee, and he’s wearing a new/old number. The participant? La’el Collins, an offensive lineman, signed off the couch on Thursday to provide Dallas’ postseason run some much-needed depth.

Coach Mike McCarthy stated, “We’re trying to make sure we’re locked and loaded for the playoffs.” “Really important if you look at the addition of players who have participated in games.”La’el obviously needs a uniform in addition to showing up for practice and work here at The Star. La’el wore No. 71 during his rookie season with the Cowboys. Additionally, he wore that same number after joining the Bengals.

Is that a problem? It is suggested here that the assignment might “cause a conundrum in some Cowboys’ fans hearts for a couple of reasons.” … and this is where we get a bit lost …

What’s the problem? One media outlet suggests Cowboys Nation might be troubled here because No. 72 “was once the number of the legendary Ed ‘Too Tall’ Jones … and was once the number of future Hall-of-Famer Travis Frederick.’

That sounds quite good. Though we don’t know if Frederick, a five-time Pro Bowler, would have locked into Canton, we still have high regard for him. We also think highly of “Too Tall,” but since lesser lights like Stephen Bowen, Rob Callaway, Louis Cheek, Trysten Hill, Dwayne Missouri, and Stephen Peterman have worn the number over the years, we’re not sure where somebody may acquire the notion that No. 72 is “hallowed territory.”

Therefore, we don’t think Cowboys Nation is really upset about this. In fact, we’re willing to wager that the only thing Cowboys supporters truly wish for in this situation is that La’el Collins can somehow help the team win the Super Bowl.
