Cowboys Need 1 Change to Win Super Bowl – RGIII
FRICO – ESPN analyst Robert Griffin III asserts that the Dallas Cowboys possess nearly all the necessary elements to win the Super Bowl, saying that “America’s Team” is lacking just one piece. RGIII stated on Twitter, “It’s about guts,” following his discussion of his thesis on the ESPN program “Get Up.” Despite the Cowboys’ heartbreaking loss to the Miami Dolphins in the final seconds during the Christmas weekend, quarterback Griffin, a former Baylor and NFL great, admits as much… a 22–20 choice that, in our opinion, truly sparks an interesting discussion regarding “guts”.”
But first to RGIII, who said on the show that true contention can be achieved if the Cowboys change is their “mindset.
From Griffin: “This Cowboys team can win the Super Bowl if they change their mindset. It’s not about personnel. It’s not about scheme. It’s about guts!” Griffin’s tweet also name-checked Cowboys players Micah Parsons, Stephin Gilmore, DaRon Bland and DeMarcus Lawrence, as well as outspoken former Dallas standout Dez Bryant
And now for the Dolphins discussion. With only a few minutes remaining, the Dak Prescott-led team drove the length of the field for the game-winning touchdown reception by Brandin Cooks. Didn’t the Cowboys offense display “guts” in that play? Or do “guts” disappear since Miami answered with a lengthy drive of its own, which ended with the game-winning field goal at the buzzer, and the Dallas defense was unable to stop it? “Guts,” indeed? Absent “guts”?Quick-witted “guts”?
We’re not saying RGIII is wrong. We’re just saying that “have some guts” and “change your mindset” can come across as empty platitudes printed as bumper stickers. Indeed, look at the comments below RGIII’s post, and you’ll see fans who didn’t win the Heisman Trophy or play in the NFL or get paid to analyze football on ESPN and guess what you’ll read?
