The three Transfer targets Rangers and Philippe Clement need with strikers Named Already
Right now, Philippe Clement chooses his Rangers team based on who is healthy, available, and requires the least amount of strapping to hold them together.
John Lundstram was added to the injury list midweek, and the manager of the Gers must be annoyed at not being able to properly work with his players on the training field.
There is undoubtedly a need for fresh faces at Ibrox, but Philippe Clement will be searching elsewhere to bolster the Rangers.
Three areas Philippe Clement has to target for Rangers
According to one rumor, he is giving priority to the left back and striker positions.
For my part, I simply fail to see it.
We have two left-backs who play internationally, and Dujon Sterling can also fill in.
It’s not required.
If either Borna Barisic or Ridvan Yilmaz left, it would make sense, but other issues must be addressed first.
Unquestionably, one of them is Striker.
Lawrence Shankland and Fabio Silva are the two names Philippe Clement has already seen associated with the Rangers.
There aren’t two more distinct players in the world.
Whether on loan or permanently though, it’s clear that reinforcements are needed with both Danilo and Kemar Roofe injured.
Cyriel Dessers has been much improved but this has seen his name added to Nigeria’s 40-man African Cup of Nations long list, if he is selected for the tournament we will really be struggling.
I’d rather have Silva on loan out of the names mentioned and reassess in the summer rather than panic buying now.
Philippe Clement also needs depth on Rangers wings.
Rabbi Matondo doesn’t seem to be able to stay fit, Scott Wright has one goal in 18-months and we can’t put all our eggs in Ross McCausland’s basket.
It’s an area where we need proven and experienced quality or we recall Ianis Hagi and play him on the right-hand side as he did so often the last time we won the Scottish Premiership.
Defensive midfield has to be the other section.
The Rangers support has gone into a semi-meltdown after John Lundstram took a hit.
No one else can fill that position, and Ryan Jack isn’t trustworthy as his contract is about to expire.
Rangers would be well served by a move for either Eliot Matazo, who Philippe Clement collaborated with at Monaco, or Connor Barron at Aberdeen, who may be available on a cheap contract.
Nils Koppen, you have my respect. The Gers goalie needs reinforcements, but he also needs quality players who he can count on.
