Tributes for Villa fan who raised thousands for charity
Aston Villa supporter who generously raised thousands of pounds for charity has received tributes.
On December 11, Keiran Lavin, 44, of Birmingham, passed away unexpectedly. He was described as a “dedicated family man who loved the Villa” by his wife Donna.
He was described as “such a nice person, so happy” by a friend from elementary school.
In order to assist Mr. Lavin’s family, Sean Connaughton created a fundraising campaign, which has already brought in more than £16,000.
Mr Lavin had raised between £10,000 and £20,000 for Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice, now known as Birmingham Hospice.
He achieved it through a series of charity football matches, which involved the 1982 Aston Villa European Cup winning team and drew crowds of up to 3,000.
His wife said he had been planning another charity event for 2024.
Growing up in Kings Heath, Mr. Connaughton and Mr. Lavin first became acquainted at St. Alban’s Primary School.
Subsequently, Mr. Lavin worked on construction sites, and Mr. Connaughton claimed to have made a lot of friends there.
Mr. Lavin, he said, is a “top bloke,” and he created the website to “take the burden away from his wife.”
He declared, “The entire south of Birmingham community has come together and got a load of money for him,” in reaction to the tremendous outpouring of support.
