Aston Villa, a surprise contender for the Premier League crown, is apparently interested in signing Norwich City’s emerging sensation Jonathan Rowe, according to claims from Caught Offside.

Rowe has made 20 Championship appearances and scored 10 goals for Norwich thus far in the 2023–24 campaign, making him a vital member of the team.

During the campaign, the 20-year-old has drawn attention with a few particularly noteworthy performances. At the beginning of the season, Rowe scored in four straight games. On Saturday, he scored twice in the 2-2 draw between Ipswich and East Anglia Derby.

It has been an impressive breakthrough season for the talented winger, who also made two appearances for England’s under-21 side in October. Rowe was handed his Norwich City debut by Dean Smith in December 2021, when the Canaries were still in the Premier League, and he made 12 further top-flight appearances in the 2021/22 season.

Rumors concerning Rowe’s future at Carrow Road have surfaced in the wake of his consistency this season. The 20-year-old was strongly linked to Wolves throughout the summer, and the Sun stated that the club made a £15 million move for the youthful forward.

Recent events, meanwhile, indicate that Villa may be joining the competition to sign Rowe in January. Under Unai Emery, the Midlands team, the Villans, are having a wonderful season thus far. They are currently third in the Premier League and have advanced to the UEFA Europa Conference League final stages.

In addition, Caught Offside reported that Emery sees Rowe as an ideal player to provide competition for first-choice striker Ollie Watkins. The England international is Villa’s top scorer this season with nine goals from 19 appearances in all competitions.

It seems more likely that Norwich will get an offer for Rowe in the January transfer window from Wolves or Villa. Nonetheless, the Canaries’ leadership appears hesitant to let their gifted young player to leave Carrow Road because of his consistent contributions to David Wagner’s team.

However, Norwich is currently in an excellent position to hold onto Rowe. According to Transfer market, the forward’s contract has 18 months left on it before it expires in June 2025.Furthermore, Rowe may profit from remaining in Norfolk for the time being rather than moving up to the Premier League, as there is no assurance that he will play for the first team.
