Aston Villa now want to sign RB Leipzig and Leicester City stars in January
Prior to the January transfer season, RB Leipzig attacker Timo Werner and Leicester City star Kelechi Iheanacho are targets for Aston Villa.
The Midlands giants are keeping an eye on the two as they intensify their pursuit of a forward signing for the upcoming season.
The 27-year-old Iheanacho, who has played sporadically for Leicester in recent weeks, has a contract that expires at the end of this year
Villa are prioritising a striker signing in January – with manager Unai Emery keen to add someone who can deputise for Ollie Watkins and provide reinforcements in attack.
Watkins has notched 14 goals and eight assists in 24 appearances across all competitions so far in the 2023-24 campaign
He has started every game in the Premier League this term, with Jhon Duran so far untrusted to play a key role in the English top flight.
Football Insider revealed last month (14 November) that Aston Villa are planning to let Duran go in January with a loan move most likely.
It is believed the youngster’s attitude has been questioned by Emery on multiple occasions and he has been told to make major improvements to fit in with the Spaniard’s no-nonsense demands.
Werner has hit two goals in 14 appearances this season after hitting 16 goals in 40 games for Leipzig in the 2022-23 campaign.
Iheanacho has notched six goals and two assists in 20 appearances for Leicester following their relegation from the Premier League last term.
In other news, defender’s Aston Villa deal could be terminated.
