Aston Villa transfer ‘almost certain’ ahead of January window
BirminghamLive’s most recent Aston Villa news features a Clement Lenglet update.
Clement Lenglet, an Aston Villa loanee, is reportedly anticipated to return to Barcelona during the January transfer window.
Since arriving on a season-long loan in the summer, the French international’s playing time has been limited to regular games.
He came to the team to cover for Tyrone Mings, who sustained a long-term injury on the first day of play.
However, Lenglet is yet to make his Premier League debut, having played just five games in the Europa Conference League.
He has been subject of interest from AC Milan and Bayern Munich.
According to Calcio Mercato, it is “almost certain” he will return to Barca in the new year. Milan are said to be “studying” the possibility of signing the centre-back.
The north London club is said to have ruled out the defender’s January departure, which has made it impossible for the Serie A
powerhouses to recruit Jakub Kiwior of Arsenal. Having said that, they might try to capitalize on Lenglet’s present predicament at B6.
Calcio Mercato notes that a potential roadblock could be his large salary, which is estimated to be around €6 million (£5 million) every season.
They will likely have new competition in the form of Napoli, although they are reportedly ready to negotiate a loan agreement with Barcelona.
