Unai Emery told what he must ‘teach’ Aston Villa player to get the best out of him

Nicolo Zaniolo has important lessons to learn from Unai Emery, according to the Italian national team manager

Aston Villa loanee Nicolo Zaniolo must be taught “self-discipline” if he is to improve as a footballer.

Those are the words of Italy manager Luciano Spalletti, who has been talking about Zaniolo and what he needs

to learn to grow in his profession and become a better player.

Zaniolo joined Villa on loan from Galatasaray in the 2023 summer transfer window, and has
made 18 appearances for the club. He scored his first goal for the team on Thursday evening as
Unai Emery’s men drew 1-1 with Mostar in the Europa Conference League and won Group B in the process.
It is hopefully a case of more to come from Zaniolo, who will be relieved to have broken his duck with Villa.
There is plenty of scope for the 24-year-old to improve, and his Italy manager knows exactly where that needs to start.

“He’s a very strong footballer,” Spalletti told TG Poste.

He has many of the qualities that are needed to become a top footballer.

We need to teach him to self-discipline, helping him in his profession,” the Azzurri boss explains.

“(Zaniolo) just needs to learn behaviours that will help him be better at what he does, and be disciplined.

He needs to cope with the talent he has been given. He must live with his own quality, and strive every day to improve himself.”
