Paul Brown shares what Sean Dyche has done to ‘crucial’ Dwight McNeil amid Everton turnaround
Paul Brown believes that Sean Dyche is the best thing that has happened to Dwight McNeil since he joined Everton.
Speaking to GiveMeSport on Wednesday, December 13, the former Daily Star reporter noted that despite
many people’s initial reservations, the 24-year-old has developed into a “crucial” player for the Toffees.
He thinks the Englishman has gained confidence from the Blues boss since he knows the
manager “trusts” him, and he also says he expects the winger to improve even more at Goodison Park.
I think he’s progressed into a crucial player for Everton, and I think many people had doubts about
him for a long time,” said Brown. “So, I think Dyche is probably the best thing to have happened to McNeil at Everton.
He’s given him some confidence.
He is aware that the management thinks highly of him and trusts him, and he is in the best shape of his life.
I believe he will improve even more. I believe we haven’t seen him at his best yet.
It seems sense that there were a lot of questions raised about McNeil in the past given his early struggles adjusting to
Everton after joining from Burnley in 2022.
However, the winger’s play picked up towards the conclusion of the previous campaign after Dyche
took over, as he scored five goals in the final six games to help the Toffees avoid relegation.
Although he has only made 15 appearances across all competitions this season and only has two
goals and three assists, he is still making an impact on every game that he plays in.
Dyche trusts the Englishman to attack and go forward in addition to his defensive responsibilities, and he has established himself as a mainstay on the left side of the midfield.
After a few underwhelming seasons, he will be aiming to keep getting better over the next few months in
order to make sure the Blues have a great season.
