Harry Kewell set for Celtic ‘exit’ as coach lined up as front runner for Yokohama Marinos job

The Australian could be set to end an 18-month spell in Glasgow after working under Postecoglou and Rodgers.

Harry Kewell is reportedly the front-runner for the Yokohama Marinos coaching position, which means he may be leaving Celtic.

The Australian, who competed against Philippe Clement to succeed Michael Beale at Ibrox in Kevin Muscat, may be set to take the role of the former Rangers star. On Thursday, his countryman

quit the J-League team, and Kewell was named the new manager of Yokohama by outlet Sponichi.

After embarking on a Celtics journey with Ange Postecoglou in 2022, Kewell was appointed coach at Parkhead and continuing to play a role in Brendan Rodgers’ preparation for this season. Now, he might be positioned for his first full-time managing position since 2021.

The former Liverpool star has been in talks progressing “smoothly” according to the report, and could be set to end an 18-month stint in Glasgow. Kewell previously managed the likes of Notts County and Oldham before taking up the role at Lennoxtown.
