Michigan offers Penn transfer portal DT Joey Slackman
Announced on social media Tuesday night, the Michigan Wolverines have extended an offer to former Penn defensive tackle Joey Slackman
Slackman has been in the portal for a little more than a week and has garnered other offers from Northwestern, Florida, Washington, TCU, Arizona, Wisconsin, Colorado and Missouri, to name a handful.
As a senior this past year for the Penn Quakers, Slackman compiled 50 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, four sacks, one pass breakup and one blocked kick. He was also a team captain this past season and an All-Ivy League player.
At 6-foot-4 and 300 pounds, Slackman would be a perfect fit for the interior defensive line and would be a great replacement option for when Kris Jenkins and Cam Goode depart for the NFL after the season.
As evidenced this season, the Wolverines like to keep their defensive line rotation fresh. Even though they will still have Mason Graham, Kenneth Grant and Rayshaun Benny in the middle of the line, depth is never a bad thing to have.
