Pundits debate Connor Goldson’s “borderline” decision against Aberdeen, saying he was fortunate to escape Rangers red.

Michael Stewart claims that Connor Goldson might have been incensed at Aberdeen for making a “borderline” choice.

After catching Dante Polvara with a stray arm, the Rangers center back was given a yellow card.

Dons manager Barry Robson was disappointed that VAR didn’t step in to ask referee Nick Walsh

to upgrade the card after witnessing the video assistant step in to award the visitors a late penalty that allowed them to steal a draw.

Stewart actually thinks it was the correct decision on the Goldson incident but did also feel the defender was putting himself at risk.

He said: “When you watch it in real time I think that’s what you have to look at. When can slow this down and for me personally it looks worse.

“It’s a borderline one. Had it been a red card, I don’t think there could have been much case to appeal it.

But certainly when you watch it in real time I think it just about constitutes a yellow card rather than a red but he is running the risk.

Furthermore, while he may be upset about Polvara falling, he has fallen far more easily with a minor tug on the jersey.

“He’s lucky to have got away with it because I think if they had looked at it the way that VAR does when they slow things done it looks a lit worse.”
