Havertz is the hero as Arsenal retakes the lead in the Premier League.

After coming off the bench in the 89th minute, Kai Haverts gave toothless Arsenal a 1-0 victory at Brentford on Saturday in London, vaulting them to the top of the Premier League table.

After Manchester City’s 1-1 draw with Liverpool earlier in the day, the Gunners take the lead once more. With 30 points, the Gunners are two ahead of Liverpool and one ahead of Man City.

Havertz is the hero after Arsenal

With 16 points so far this season, Thomas Frank’s team, the Bees, are still ranked 11th in the league. After winning three straight Premier League games, Brentford has now lost two of them.

After Gabriel Jesus knocked the ball down, Leandro Trossard scored to give the Gunners the lead, but a lengthy VAR review revealed the Belgian was just ahead of the ball.

Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale kept a clean sheet despite some nervous moments in the goalie position.

It was one of those games that you just have to win: shabby, disorganized, and motivated by the bench.

Although some find it amusing, Aaron Ramsdale, who started for Arsenal last year, is currently David Raya’s number two. Raya was not allowed to play against his parent club, so Ramsdale overcame nerves and mistakes to maintain a perfect record throughout London.

However, Havertz, who has had two mostly difficult stints with London clubs, will feel even better about it. After playing left wing back during the international break, he scored his second goal as a Gunner in Premier League play with an in-tight goal off the bench.

Although Arsenal’s depth display was impressive, it’s no accident that Martin Odegaard made a comeback to the midfield and partnered with Declan Rice to guide the midfield through the muck and mire.

Arsenal has risen to the top of the table by hard work and perseverance.
